The increasing level of improper waste disposal in our communities has led to tons of waste being thrown on landfills and worse on illegal dumps. This has created a hazardous living within the society as well as on the environment itself. Recycling Stokvel NPC from Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal has identified an income generating opportunity, through the recycling of waste material, while addressing the situation. This venture will also benefit other community members mostly the unemployed.
The Proposal
The separation of waste from the source is the best solution as more waste in communities comes from the households. This operation will need intense campaign and environmental education which needs to be done across the communities. After recyclables has been sorted then they will be sold to different relevant buyers. Because of the smaller amount of money to be gained then a matrix Stokvel has to be developed and introduced in the program as it will boost their earnings.
